Outreach

Feed

We collect food donations weekly to help stock the shelves of a local food pantry. Additionally, our Be Our Guest group meets every six weeks and to make and deliver meals to church and community members in need.

PRC is part of the Helping Hands Interfaith Network, a group of congregations of different faiths in our community. We come together every eight weeks and host a marathon sandwich making session to make 500 sandwiches which are distributed through the Interfaith Nutrition Network. This is open to anyone who wishes to participate.

Our weekly post-worship Soup Ministry provides a hot and healthy meal to church-goers and community members at no charge. All are welcome to share a meal and celebrate community.

Our newest outreach program, Feed the Need, is a mobile food ministry. We feel called to feed our neighbors who are hungry, but realize that it might be difficult for them to get us to. So, we to go to them! After a bit of searching in our area, we found that the largest, concentrated number of hungry people appear to be at the Hicksville Train Station.

Every other Tuesday we cook a hot, homemade meal in our church kitchen. The meal consists of a protein, a vegetable, a starch, dessert, a bottle of water, plastic utensils, a wet-nap, and a bagel with cream cheese, (that we hope will be a little sustenance for the next day), as well as a note that says who we are, and lists our contact information, and the date and time that we will be back with another meal. In the few months that we have been doing this new ministry, we have come to know many of our neighbors by name and are finding that some are eagerly waiting for us when we arrive.

If you would like to volunteer with Feed the Need, you can call the church 516.931.8770.  We would love to meet you!

Giving

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. -Matthew 6:21

Here at PRC, there are many ways to give, not only monetarily, but by volunteering your time and talent! We provide groceries for a local food pantry. We make sandwiches for the Helping Hands Interfaith Network for the hungry. Your giving helps us reach out to the community and offer community events, such as PRC Cafe. And globally, the money collected from returning empty water bottles, enables us to build drinking wells for villages in Africa. For more information about how we at PRC give to the community and to the world, visit our Outreach page.

Your generosity supports worship, ministries and programs that touch the lives of youth, families, and others in need of Christ’s love.
